Strict checks to ensure fuel sold in Laos meets standards

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The Department of Standardisation and Metrology under the Ministry of Science and Technology will carry out fuel checks at petrol stations across the country this year to ensure products comply with the standards set by the government.

In 2017, the department found samples of fuel that was adulterated with alcohol, acid or kerosene at 30 percent of the petrol stations it inspected, but in 2018 this figure had fallen to only 10 percent of the petrol stations that were checked.
